Define needs
Every request begins with a requirement definition. We establish the subject area, intended application, format preferences, quality standards, and any constraints specific to the task. Requirements are confirmed before sourcing starts — not assumed mid-process. This stage eliminates ambiguity and ensures that everything sourced in the following stage is relevant by design.

With requirements confirmed, we identify and retrieve candidate materials from relevant sources. This covers databases, repositories, specialist archives, and sector-specific channels appropriate to the subject. We do not restrict sourcing to a single channel or generic database — the coverage is determined by what the subject and requirements actually call for. Volume is managed deliberately: we retrieve enough to make the filtering stage meaningful, not so much that it becomes unmanageable.
Filter
Each retrieved item is assessed individually against the defined requirements. Materials that are outdated, irrelevant, duplicative, or of insufficient quality are removed. This is the stage that determines whether a resource set is useful or merely complete. The output is a shortlist of materials that directly serve the stated purpose — with noise, redundancy, and low-quality items excluded. Filtering criteria are traceable back to the original requirement definition.
